Log-linearized Peripheral Arterial Viscoelastic Model

Medical engineering group

We proposed a method to monitor the peripheral arterial mechanical states using biological signals including electrocardiogram, arterial pressure, and photo-prethemogram. A log-linearized peripheral vascular viscoelastic model is developed to describe the nonlinear viscoelastic relationship between the blood pressure and the photo-plethysmograph signal. The proposed indicator can estimate the change in stiffness of the peripheral arterial wall induced by sympathetic nerve activity, and can be applied to monitoring the peripheral arterial state during chest sympathectomy surgery.
